What a wonderful start to studio life! Welcome all, and thanks for joining me on this journey. I just wanted to quickly fill you in on on of our very first projects for the year, it was a pleasure!
Earlier this year, esteemed members of the Hermannsburg School of Art Lenie Namatjira and Gloria Pannka were joined by emerging watercolourist and acclaimed Hermannsburg Potter, Clara Inkamala in Canberra. Together, the artists completed a Printmaking Residency at the ANU studios, generously hosted by Alison Alder, Rebecca Mayo, Nicci Haynes and current students. Following on from a previous residency held in 2015, Gloria and Lenie were proud to share with Clara their unique methods for relief printing - the carving of imagery of their West MacDonnell Ranges landscapes into lino plates.
The artists brought with them intaglio prints from the editions that were executed as part of the original residency, as well as recent watercolour pieces that were shown in a commercial exhibition titled ‘Pmara Nurnakanha Parta- kurta (Our country, hill habitats)’ held at the Photospace room at the ANU School of Art.
The team at Beach Framing were proud to provide presentation services to compliment this beautiful exhibition and attend the opening event with the artists. We are very excited to see the prints that are a result of this workshop.
Thanks for reading, talk soon!
